A couple pics before we left.

The above shot is "The Rock." At roughly over 2 miles in you head up the trail to climb this. Below is another shot of the rock on part of the course.

I was very excited to see that The Gifford Family was there. My friend Clarissa ran the 5K too. She ran the Seattle Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon last June and did awesome.

I was so happy to have other people at an event besides just me. After the 5K they had a kids run. Clarissa's daughters, Savannah & Jillian both ran in that. Savannah(below)took second. Congrats Savannah!!!!

All of the below shots were taken after we finished the 5K. I never get to run with anyone so all three of us ran together. It was a lot of fun. We "topped the rock" which was a very steep and muddy mess. It was fun though and made you appreciate how easy the rest of the course really was after you climbed down. I have to check my Garmin for our finish time. We were averaging roughly a 10 minute mile before we took on The Rock. I do know we ran 3.25 instead of 3.1. Why is is that a race is always longer that advertised instead of shorter???

We all sprinted to the finish. Clarissa's husband, Doug, actually took several great shots of us at the start and at the finish. Once I get the action shots I'll get them posted.

Once we picked up the girls and came home, Makenna wanted to take pics of me with my shirt. She's getting pretty good with the camera. Once you "top the rock" you get a bracelet before heading back down. I was very excited that the shirts and bracelet for this year were GREEN :)

Here's a pretty cool website with pics of The Rock/Cowlitz River/Castle Rock.
