Back In The Saddle

Okay, so it's more like, back on the treadmill.  After "letting myself go" it was my first official treadmill run.  I know I haven't gained 100 pounds or anything but the fact that I haven't been running and I have gained some weight is enough to keep me going.  I've worked way to hard to get to this point.  The fact that I could scare small children in my running outfit is great motivation as well.  I knew I wasn't going to be happy with myself when I put it on.  I could have worn a loose t-shirt and shorts but that would have been cheating.  I wanted to see what my laziness has done.  I finished changing, stretching, and getting my iPod ready.  I turned the treadmill on and away I went.  Considering it had been awhile I felt pretty good-at first.  I made sure and ate a few hours before this but my body was letting me know it wasn't happy about it.  Again, I'll have to train my system to work on the schedule I was on before.  About halfway through my run I could definitely tell that it had been way too long.  I wanted to at least run 3 miles or 30 minutes.  By the time I made it to the end of my run I just wanted to keep going.  I wasn't a pretty sight but I felt amazing after I was done.  I'm so glad that I had the opportunity to get back on there today.  I have way too many things that I want to accomplish and this was just the first step.

Run Stats - 32 minutes  4 miles

Flood Pics

My Old House

Some of our friends were volunteering out in the Curtis area on Saturday.  I recognized some of the pictures on their camera.  I made Jason drive out there Sunday morning to see it for myself.  The Mudge Dairy use to be on this road.  The Dairy is still there but my Step-Grandparents owned it then.  During the time my mom was married to my step-dad we lived in two different homes along this same road.  The blue house is at 175 Ceres Hill Road.  The water almost reached the roof.  It was my favorite home for so many reasons.  Nothing was better than getting to see my Mom every other weekend.  Looking at the pic from the left was my room, extra room, living room, and then at the right was our rec room.  It was awesome.  My step-dad had a ton of awesome stereo equipment and speakers.  We did karaoke together.  We also had a pool table in there.  It was so much fun.  I loved that house and I loved being there.  So many happy memories.  The river is right across the road and down a bank.  My step-dad built our own dock that we could play on and jump off of into the river.  We also had a rope swing out of one of the huge trees down there.  It was beautiful.  There were trees lining both sides of the river.  Now there is barely a tree around on either side and there is only mud.  It is awful.  The first pic is now the view from the blue house.  Nothing looks the same.

The other house was awesome too.  Again so many awesome memories of my Mom and all the fun things we did together as a family.

This flood has been devastating for so many people.  Each day I've seen more and more destruction and have been saddened by it.  After seeing this it has touched me on a whole new level.  Not only has it destroyed everything on this road but now it has taken away a place that I felt a connection to my Mom.  This whole thing has become way more personal for me.  I'm going to try and do whatever I can to help.

First Blog

I'm just trying this out.  I figured since all the "cool" kids are doing it, I'd give it a go.

This has been a huge week here in Chehalis.  Starting on Monday we started to have major flooding issues.  I'll be posting more about that later.  Right now I'm just completely wore out emotionally from all I've seen this week.  I'm going to check into volunteering tomorrow.  There is a lot of work to be done.  I'm so very thankful for all that I have.

I plan on using this blog as motivation.  I love running and have a ton of goals that I would love to reach with it.  I'm going to log my progress here.  I'll keep my family stuff updated along the way too.

Any posts older than this are from notes and stuff I've kept along the way until now.
