Seattle Rock-n-Roll Expo

Friday morning, Tressa and I got a late start.  I'm not sure how that happened since I never sleep in.  I was awake early several different times so who knows.  We got ready and packed everything back up in the car.  Zoe's Dad was there watching Goober.  We all had a very interesting conversation that still makes me giggle.  Let's just say he had some very helpful advice on performing well in the race the next day :)

We hit the road and headed towards the Expo.  It was raining like crazy.  I was driving my little Ford Focus.  It's not exactly an all terrain vehicle.  We came super close to getting in a wreck.  Super slick roads and psycho drivers.  I'm still not sure how we escaped but I'm very thankful we did.  I couldn't get parked and out of the car quick enough.

Tressa and I picked up our packets and started making a sweep of the Expo.  We weren't there long before our guys showed up.  Jason and I took advantage of the Expo discount and are officially signed up again for next year.

At 3:00PM we headed over to the stage for our Running Blogger Meet Up.  John "The Penguin" Bingham and our own amazing Melanie from Tall Mom On The Run hosted.  Afterwards we all mingled and took pics.

Tressa and I hanging out with Charlie Tuna

Yes, Jesse and Tressa were having fun while I was stuck dealing with a party pooper.  He was tired and hungry though which is never a good combination.

Tressa and Jesse had booked a hotel not far from the race start and invited us to stay with them.  I was looking forward to walking to the start and not having to worry about traffic in the morning.  We all met up in the room and then walked to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner.  I had never been there before.  It was like temptation island.  I was in the process of finishing up an Advocare 24 Day Challenge so I was limited on food choices.  It actually made the whole weekend a bit frustrating and hard to work around.  I managed to find something on the menu that would work.  Jason and Tressa each picked a cheesecake slice to take back to the room.  I was a bit jealous.

Once we got back to the room we all just hung out, watched tv, ate cheese cake and laughed a lot.  Even after turning off the lights and attempting to sleep everyone got sillier.  My stomach hurt from laughing so much.  It was a super fun night.

Stay tuned for my race report....

Another Mother Runner House Party

Tressa and I kicked off our Seattle RNR Weekend by heading up Thursday night for the Another Mother Runner House Party.  It was hosted by Dimity McDowell and Sarah Bowen Shea, authors of Train Like A Mother.  The weather was great so we had a smooth car ride up.  We found a spot to park and got there early enough to help set things up.

Soon there were running mother bloggers everywhere.  Some we knew, some we'd never met, and some we'd known for quite a while but had never met in "real life" ~ Lesley at Racing It Off and Tricia at Endurance Isn't Only Physical.  I was super excited to meet these ladies.  So much fun.

Check out my new shirt.  LOVE IT!!!

After some much needed girl talk, giveaways, and a couple purchases, Tressa and I followed Zoe back to her house to camp out there for the night.  I can't begin to say how thankful I am for her.  Not only did Tressa and I get an extra girls night, we also got to hang out with Zoe's family.  Isla aka Goober even got to stay up a little with us.  Such a cutie.  I have to say that Zoe's furry baby, Murphy, won me over.  I love him.  He even has some crazy mad skills.

That's right, he's actually potty trained on the toilet.  What a stud.

Murphy getting a manicure.

Zoe, Tressa, and I stayed up talking for quite awhile.  Zoe had to get up early for work so we eventually made it to bed.  Day 1 of our Seattle Rock-n-Roll Adventure was amazing.  Stay tuned for more.

Three Things Thursday

(1)  Seattle Rock-n-Roll!!!  I am beyond excited for this weekend.  EXPO's, friends, running, girl time, husband time....just getting to enjoy something I truly enjoy along with so many amazing friends I have met along the way.

This afternoon I'm picking Tressa up and headed to Seattle for the Another Mother Runner Party tonight.  After that we will get to hang out with Zoe.  Big thanks to her for letting us crash at her house tonight.  Tomorrow, Jason & Jesse will head our way.  Looking forward to the EXPO.  I love them, and Seattle always has a great one.  Also excited for the Bloggy meetup that will include John Bingham and the amazing Mel, "Tall Mom."  And, of course, Saturday~Race Day!!!  Can't wait to check out the new course, help pull Jason along, and cheer on all my running buddies.

Can't wait to meet several of my amazing blogger buddies for the first time in real life :)

Special good luck vibes going out to Tressa aka Adorable Wife.  This will be her very first Half Marathon!!!  Go Tressa!!!

(2)  Marathon Weight Loss Challenge.  Jess at Run With Jess came up with a very fun challenge to lose a Half Marathon~13.1 pounds or a Full Marathon~26.2 pounds over the Summer.  All the details are HERE.  You have until June 25th to get signed up.  If you are looking for some extra motivation, support, and some skinny jeans, don't miss out.  I'm super excited to get healthier and help motivate myself and others along the way.

(3)  So we all know that I'm not a fast runner.  One thing I have going for me, apparently, is that I can climb poles.  This past weekend was the Andrew York Lineman Rodeo.  My husband just finished his first year apprenticeship as a Lineman.  I'm super proud of him.  Two more years of school to go.  This is the 8th year of competition.  3 linemen from his work competed as a team and Jason competed as an apprentice.  He placed 9th out of 22.  Even cooler was that many he scored higher than were 2nd and 3rd year guys.  They also have an amateur competition for family and friends in the pole climb.  The top place in each division gets an award.  I was shocked and very excited to hear my name called as the fastest female.  The guy who won was only 2 seconds faster than me.  Can't wait until next year :)

Here's a pic of Makenna climbing.  Her pic was way cuter than mine :)

Good luck to everyone running this weekend!!!!

Can't wait to hang out and make some great memories!!!

Spokane To Sandpoint Relay 2012

I'm super excited to share that I am officially part of the Pink Warriors/Team Morgan Spokane To Sandpoint 2012 Relay Team.  On August 17-18th we will be running 185 miles of pure fun and adventure.  Tressa & Jesse from Training With A Track Coach And His Adorable Wife came up with this awesome idea.  So excited to experience this with them.  Jason is now officially a driver instead of a runner.  I was super excited to watch him get motivated and run this with me but we couldn't ask for a safer/better driver.   I still plan on dragging him out to train with me so he better get ready :)

We are still working on assigning legs.  Lots of contests throughout the relay like best wig, best costume, brightest outfit (I've heard that once a woman ran in a glow stick bikini-yikes), best tattoos/mustache, and even a YouTube video award.  This is going to be super fun.  More details to come.  I'm so excited!!!

Check out our Team Fan Page on Facebook HERE.
Please "LIKE" us :)  Also, if you have any great name suggestions, we are taking ideas.  We want to run in support of breast cancer.
