100 Miles 4 Kids ~ Motivational Monday

I couldn't think of anything better to share for a Motivational Monday.  After having my two girls and then losing my Mom I decided to get healthy.  One of my biggest supporters in that was my friend, Shawn Cooper.  In April 2006, I ran my very first 5K with him and was then inspired to come back home and sign up for my first Portland Marathon that October.  Yes, I'm a little crazy but I was feeling great and motivated.  Motivation is an amazing thing.  Now I want to help motivate him and support him in his journey to Run 100 Miles 4 Kids.

Here's some info~

About The Runner's

Shawn is an amazing husband and has three beautiful kids.  He is currently a resident in Pediatrics at Penn State Children's Hospital.  He has an extremely busy schedule and still manages to run and train for a wonderful cause.

Shawn is sharing this journey with his friend, Andy.  Another great guy with a family and who is training hard to prepare for the run.

About The Run

Andy and Shawn will begin at the historic Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. Then, running west, they’ll continue running to the Penn State Children’s Hospital in Hershey, Pennsylvania (yes, chocolatetown!).
All 100 miles will be covered in less than 24 hours.  Andy and Shawn will pass the baton back and forth as a non-stop 2 person 100 mile relay .

100 miles?  Running?  On foot?  In one day? Are they nuts? Probably.
The runners will make their contribution, 100 miles long, to encourage you to make yours.
100 miles.  $10,000 dollars. Together, we’ll exceed our goals.

Who Benefits
Every child deserves the hope and healing of children’s hospitals. With the help of a Children’s Miracle Network hospital in their community, children of all ages and backgrounds can receive treatment for every imaginable disease and injury—from asthma and broken bones to cancer and heart defects. Children’s hospitals are also on the front lines of research, education and outreach programs that keep millions of kids out of the hospital each year.
Hershey Medical CenterPenn State Hershey Children’s Hospital is the only children’s hospital in central Pennsylvania and the region’s only pediatric trauma center.  A new, expanded, freestanding Children’s Hospital will soon be built on the grounds of Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.
The 100 mile run will support the Penn State Children’s Hospital through the Children’s Miracle Network.  Your donation will help a real child, with a real illness, have fun and smile in spite of facing a tough fight.
You can contact Shawn/Andy HERE.  Send them some motivation or even better, a donation towards their goal of raising $10,000.  In less than two weeks they will be making their 100 mile/24 Hour Journey.  Let's all give them some motivation.  After all, runners are the friendliest and most motivational people out there.
