Knee News

I was lucky enough to get into an orthopedic doctor today. Originally my doctors office said it would take 5-6 weeks to get in. First was some x-rays. They have some pretty amazing equipment. They took lots of shots and then I was off to the room to wait for the doctor. Dr. Slattery was very professional, very smart, and he was on time~bonus! He had me explain my knee history and go through several exercises to show him what was going on. In the end I was diagnosed with left knee symptomatic medial plica. I have damage inside my knee from the original blunt force injury to it from my car wreck in 1993. He is sending me to physical therapy in hopes that it will help. The other options are steroid shots in the knee if the pain was to get really bad and surgery to remove some of the damage. I'm looking forward to what physical therapy can do to help. I'd love to solve this problem without needles and scalpels. At this point I'm just grateful I was able to see a doctor who knew what he was talking about and who genuinely wanted to help me.
