Mount St. Helens

When my Mom was alive she started an Adopt-A-Highway section for her boyfriend, Doug. He has 2 miles of road between mile marker 32-34 on the highway going up to Mt. St. Helens. After my Mom passed away in 2004 I started one for her too. Her stretch is between mile markers 36-38. So I now have 4 miles of highway that I'm responsible for. It had been way too long since we went to pick up litter up there so we decided to leave really early this morning and go. On the way up we stopped at the park/pond in Toledo. We already had to make a potty stop. When we left the bathroom we made some new friends who followed us all the way back to the car.

Here is a pic of one of Moms signs on the way up and a picture of me at her spot. I love this rock.

The view from Moms spot.

These are at a viewing spot close to Johnston's Ridge. Kinley has the worst trouble keeping her eyes open for pictures.

On the way back we stopped at my Moms other sign. We also checked out one of the Learning Centers. It hasn't been open in awhile so it was fun to take the girls. They had a playground outside and a ton of cool stuff to look at inside. They loved "flying" the helicopter. It was a really fun day and we got a lot accomplished. The bad part was is that we didn't get back in time for Sawyer's birthday party. We were all bummed about that-sorry Heidi :(
